Description
Pair of noble benches in solid carved walnut. Northern Italy, 17th century.
– Signed on the back: “PBG Care”.
Made entirely of finely carved solid walnut, presumably from a 17th-century Lombardy-Veneto workshop. The imposing, typically Baroque backrest features a symmetrical double scroll motif, culminating in a central shield-shaped scroll, a symbol commonly found in noble or ecclesiastical furnishings. The frame is embellished with carved and pyrographed decorations and plant motifs.
