Description
Italian painter (19th century) – Still Life with a Vase of Flowers.
Oil on panel, in a wooden frame.
Floral composition with a bouquet arranged in a vase decorated in relief with putti figures, set on a stone ledge. The botanical variety is wide — roses, tulips, dahlias — enlivened by butterflies and a bird’s nest with eggs in the foreground to the right. The arrangement draws on the Flemish and Dutch seventeenth-century still life tradition, reinterpreted in a nineteenth-century key. The painting bears the signature “Agricola” at the lower left.
Condition report: Good state of conservation of the pictorial surface, with signs of ageing and wear.
