The painting depicts Apollo and Daphne in a landscape with trees framing the scene. The composition, the handling of the foliage, and the atmospheric quality of the light connect the work to the circle of Hendrik Frans van Lint, known as “Lo Studio,” a Flemish landscape painter active in Rome in the early 18th century, whose production is characterized by Arcadian landscapes with stretches of water and mythological figures.
