Description
Carved, lacquered and painted wooden box. Venice, 18th century.
Oval shaped wooden box with scalloped edges, raised on four small feet. The domed lid and body are decorated with polychrome floral motifs and red scrollwork. The ground retains its original oxidised sandarac lacquer, characteristic of the Venetian lacquerwork tradition of the 18th century.
Condition report: Good general condition, with old restorations, general wear, and minor chips.
