Description

Tuscan chest of drawers, lacquered and painted to simulate burr wood. Late 18th century.

Two-drawer chest entirely lacquered and painted to simulate burr wood, with a herringbone-effect grain pattern on the front and sides. The top features a central diamond motif within a painted border, executed with the same decorative technique. Dark fillets articulate the edges of the top, drawers, and sides, giving the piece a neat, neoclassical character. Original gilt-bronze handles and escutcheons. Square-section tapered legs.

Condition report: Overall good state of conservation. Minor signs of wear and small losses to the painted surface, consistent with the age of the piece.
