Oil on canvas, in a gilded wooden frame.
The composition depicts a still life with fruit arranged on a woodland floor: oranges, black grapes, plums, strawberries in a wicker basket, and other seasonal fruits, with foliage against a dark background. The naturalistic treatment and technique are consistent with the British still life tradition of the late nineteenth century, with careful attention to surface texture and chromatic contrast.
