Description

Jean-Baptiste Oudry (Paris 1686 – Beauvais 1755) circle of – Architecture with Still Life of Fruit.

Oil on canvas, in a carved and gilded wooden frame.

The composition depicts a group of fruits — bunches of white and red grapes, peaches, and vine leaves — arranged on a stone ledge, with a wooded landscape and cloudy sky in the background. The painting bears the signature J.B. Oudry at the centre, on the edge of the stone surface, referencing the work of the celebrated French painter known for his still lifes and hunting scenes, active between the late 17th and first half of the 18th century. Attributable to the artist’s circle, the work displays a confident handling of volume and surface texture in the fruit, with careful attention to light effects.

Condition report: Relined canvas. Good state of conservation of the painted surface, with traces of old restorations and wear.
