To the left, two sailors animate the scene on the edge of the hull. In the background, a calm, luminous expanse of water with other sailing vessels in the distance, rendered with synthetic touches, conveys the vastness of the lagoon on a windy day. The brushstrokes are loose and constructive, with thick impasto on the sails and a vibrant rendering of the reflections on the water, fully in keeping with early 20th-century Venetian plein air painting.
