An architectural opening in the background reveals a seascape. The subject belongs to the well-established Venetian tradition of turcherie painting, a genre widely practised in the 18th century reflecting European fascination with the Orient. The vivid palette, the handling of drapery, and the treatment of figures are consistent with the Venetian painterly milieu of the second quarter of the Settecento.<\/p>\n<p>Condition report: Lined canvas.
