The body is entirely in chased and gilt bronze in the Rocaille taste, with the top modelled as a cartouche enlivened by asymmetric scrollwork, foliage, and curving ornament. Two double-layer glass inkwells in ruby and opaque white are set into the upper surface. The piece bears the signature and the date 1879 on the reverse, confirming both its authorship and its precise chronological placement within the maison’s period of greatest activity.<\/p>\n
Condition report: Good overall state of conservation.
