His painting, which combined the legacy of the great Venetian masters of the 16th century with a luminous color palette and a Rococo-style decorative sensibility, made him a point of reference for the entire generation of painters active in Venice during the early decades of the century, including Giambattista Pittoni himself, who partly carried on his stylistic legacy.<\/p>\n<p>The painting presented here, small in size and executed with a quick, fluid brushstroke, can be classified as a preparatory sketch, likely intended for a larger composition. The scene depicts an elderly winged figure\u2014an allegory of Time\u2014facing a young, half-naked female figure, draped in a cloak of ochre and white tones, seated on a rocky outcrop in a wooded landscape. The color palette, centered on luminous blues and vivid reds, the airy arrangement of the figures in space, and the fluidity of the brushwork are characteristic of the painterly tradition of Sebastiano Ricci and his circle, whose fluid execution and luminous color palette are reflected in the painting, while the soft rendering of the flesh tones and the taste for compositional elegance bring the work closer to the style of Giambattista Pittoni.<\/p>\n<p>Condition report: Lined canvas.
