Signed indistinctly lower left.
The painting depicts a narrow, shadowed Venetian canal with two gondolas and their gondoliers. The brushwork is loose and heavily impasted, capturing the luminous effect of the turquoise water and the reflections on the palazzo facades. The palette, whites, ochres, deep browns and blue-green, is consistent with the Venetian vedutist tradition of the early 20th century, combining Impressionist echoes with a post-Macchiaioli sensibility. The gondoliers are rendered as essential pictorial marks.
Condition report: Original canvas. Good state of conservation of the pictorial surface, with traces of aging and wear.
