Description
European painter (19th century) – Bulls at the Ford.
Oil on panel, in a gilded wood frame.
The composition depicts a group of bulls gathered on the bank of a stream, set within a wooded landscape rendered in a melancholic and atmospheric tone. To the left, a stone arch bridge is visible in the background, with a figure leaning against the parapet, while dense trees fill the upper portion of the scene. The fluid brushwork and palette of browns, ochres, and deep greens are characteristic of 19th-century European landscape painting, with particular attention to the naturalistic rendering of cattle and the river environment.
Condition report: Good state of conservation of the pictorial surface, with signs of aging and wear.
