Carved and giltwood Liberty mirror. Italy, 20th century.
Carved and gilded wood mirror in Liberty style, set within a double order frame. The outer band displays a continuous pattern of stylised leaves arranged in a radiating design, while the inner moulding bears a garland frieze of foliage and berries, interrupted at the centre of each side by a small gilt boss in relief. The contrast between the gilding and the burnished ground enhances the depth of the carving. The bevelled mirror plate completes the composition.
Condition report: Good state of preservation, with light wear to the gilding consistent with age.
