Description
Pair of important sixteen-light chandeliers in crystal and gilt sheet metal. Venice, early 19th century.
The structure, in chased and gilt sheet metal, is entirely draped with crystal festoons and bead chains. The two tiers of candle arms, sixteen in total, are enlivened by small applied flowers in pale green Murano glass, characteristic of Venetian production of the period. The lower bowl, connected to the body by cascading crystal strands, terminates in drop pendants. Fully electrified and in working order.
Condition report: Generally good state of preservation, with age-related signs of wear consistent with the period.
