Description

Samson Manufactory, Paris (late 19th century) – Porcelain salt shaker depicting a young gentleman seated.

Polychrome porcelain salt shaker depicting a young gentleman in Rococo attire (yellow jacket, lilac trousers, pink tricorn hat) seated between two woven baskets with handles, decorated with bouquets of polychrome flowers. The base is rocaille-style with gold trim. The design is based on 18th-century models from the great European manufactories, particularly Meissen, of which the Maison Samson in Paris produced high-quality replicas in the second half of the 19th century. The modeling is precise, and the polychrome decoration is well-preserved.

Condition report: Good overall condition, with signs of aging and wear.
