Description
British painter (19th-20th century) – Wooded landscape with waterfall, shepherdess and flock.
Oil on panel, in gilt wood frame.
Signed lower right.
The painting depicts a wooded landscape through which a stream descends among rocky boulders, forming a waterfall in the foreground. In the background, the vegetation opens onto a cloudy sky with birds in flight. On the right bank, a female figure with a child accompanies a flock of sheep along a path. The scene is consistent with the British Romantic landscape tradition, with careful attention to the rendering of light filtered through the foliage and the movement of the water.
