Carved, lacquered, and painted wooden box. Northern Europe, 19th century.
Small carved wooden box, entirely lacquered in black and hand-decorated with polychrome floral motifs, featuring orange and red flowers and green foliage. The lid, edged with a frame of gilded beading, opens on hinges to reveal the natural wood interior; the front features an original hook clasp flanked by two floral motifs, while the lower section opens to reveal two small drawers with ring handles. The sides feature additional floral decorations and side handles for carrying. The base has a scalloped profile. Original hardware.
Condition report: Good condition, with widespread wear consistent with its age.
