Description

Pair of polychrome porcelain incense-burning vases – Capodimonte manufactory, 19th century.

Entirely made of painted and gilt porcelain, the pair features a pierced cover surmounted by a seated putto, a baluster body decorated with hand-painted gilt rosettes and floral motifs on a pale blue-white ground, further enriched with high-relief floral garlands and paired applied putti to the sides. Scrolling mixtilinear base. The pierced cover, typical of incense burners, allowed the diffusion of aromatic essences. Marked to the underside.
