Italian painter (18th century) – Saint Monica in prayer.

The painting depicts Saint Monica in an Augustinian habit, captured in a moment of fervent prayer, her gaze and right hand raised upward. A second nun from the same congregation, standing behind her, accompanies her with a discreet gesture. On the right, a young devotee in prayer completes the composition. The dark background is enlivened by a classical architectural element and a red drape on the left. The rendering of the faces and the flowing treatment of the garments are attributable to the Italian painting tradition of the second half of the 18th century.
